Half of the Frauen Bundesliga fell victim to the winter weather hitting Germany this weekend, but Bayern Munich still managed to play and still managed to hang seven goals on SV Meppen. Klara Buhl was the big winner for Bayern. She bagged a hat trick with a pair of goals in the first half and a third in the 51st minute. Lea Schuller added a brace with her first coming in just the fifth minute of play and the second coming in the first minute of the second half. Maike Berentzen scored Meppen’s only goal, but she also put one into her own net to contribute to Bayern’s margin of victory.

VfL Wolfsburg managed to get a win to keep pace with first place Bayern, but it didn’t come easily. They allowed Turbine Potsdam to equalize twice after they took the lead. Rebecka Bolmqvist’s 23rd minute goal was wiped out by Selina Cerci eight minutes later. Katherin Hendrich wasted no time putting Wolfsburg back in front in the 31st, but Nina Ehegotz pulled one back from Potsdam in the 51st. Zsannet Jakabfi provided the winning goal in the 57th and Potsdam was unable to bag a third equalizer, giving Wolfsburg the three points.

TSG Hoffenheim blew out Bayer Leverkusen 6-0 fueled by a hat trick from Nicole Billa and two own goals off Leverkusen midfielder Ann-Kathrin Vinken.

Just two of the six scheduled German matches survived the continued winter weather in Germany, but they both featured the country’s big clubs. Bayern Munich hammered Werder Bremen 7-0, continuing its perfect season. Lea Schuller and Linda Dallmann both bagged braces in the rout. Schuller opened the scoring in the ninth minute and her second goal just before the break came after Lina Magull’s 17th minute finish. Dallmann ruled the second half for Bayern by bringing the game to 4-0 in the 50th minute and adding her second a dozen minutes later. Carolin Simon and Marina Hegering also scored to round out the seven goals on the day.

VfL Wolfsburg had a much more difficult time securing all three points against TSG Hoffenheim at home. Svenja Huth was the lone goal scorer in the 1-0 victory as Wolfsburg continues to keep pace with Bayern Munich with far less dominant results than the leaders. The two title contenders don’t meet again until May 6, but the title race could be more or less determined at that point based on the current play of each team.
